The It Girls Overnight Retreat

A slumber party meets hack-a-thon that aims to engage, inspire, and celebrate high school girls and their potential in technology. It provides exposure to the breadth of college life here at Syracuse University and the iSchool the wide range of potential careers in tech, relatable female role models, and collaborative, hands-on activities related to the I.T. field.

Why girls?

We are responding to a call to action. Our country is experiencing a deficit of female interest and participation in the STEM disciplines, and we want to help. What a loss to not have enough of these women – inherently collaborative, intuitive, inquisitive, creative, multi-tasking leaders – in our community of information innovators. The It Girls Overnight Retreat is just one way that the Syracuse iSchool is working to support and engage women who will change the future of innovation in America.

If you’d like to show your support for this initiative and our It Girls, please tweet your thoughts using the hashtag #ItGirls and @iSchoolSU.
We’d love to hear from you, and we know your encouragement will make an impact.
